Grand Phone Bill with an Upside.
Imagine, you texting a “helping the poor” foundation and not knowing each text you send would cost 10 dollars. What would your parent’s reaction be?
This is exactly what happened to Cara. She posted on a website, “I’ve texted Haiti to 90999 over 200 times… over 2000 dollars donated to Haiti Relief efforts. Join me!” She posted thinking that the all the texts she had sent were free. After posting this, her friends commented saying, “your parents might not like your cell phone bill this month.” Cara took this as a joke saying, “It’s not my money! Hah.” She, later, found out that all the texts she had sent were each 10 dollars, by another friend. Cara mentioned that she had counted her texts and that her total was 188 texts sent to Haiti. The result of this good thing gone badly is an 1800 dollar phone bill to her parents. This is pretty amazing and absurd for the girl. If she would’ve just used common sense, then she would’ve known that her text messages weren’t free, especially if she would have lived a long distance from Haiti. But it is unknown in where she lives. Yeah, it is pretty good for Haiti but she needs to think of cause and effect.
